My Background

I am an insurance professional, who retired after 38 years of owning a successful agency.  During these years, I knew many people, whose parents very much needed long term care, but were not eligible for long term care insurance due to their advanced age or health history.  Many clients needed help themselves—some living alone.

Either the spouse took care of them in their home, or the disabled parent lived in their children’s home being taken care of by them, or their children paid for their long term care.   A few had no one to turn to.

Only one of the parents qualified for Medi-Cal, and most had depleted their assets.  Because of the great and growing need, I decided to come out of retirement in order to help people who are still eligible for long term care insurance.  I feel that statistics for the need are compelling.

Personal Experience

My father had had two debilitating stokes, and my mother took care of him in their home for six years.  She died at age 78 of cancer, which their doctors were convinced was brought on by the unrelenting stress and misery that she had experienced.  Both of her parents, and all of her siblings had lived into their eighties.  After she died, my father went into a nursing home, depleting his assets over five years.  This is why I feel so strongly about the need for long term care insurance.
